Of course I told Clara about what I’d done when she returned from her honeymoon. She was thrilled for me and wanted to hear every detail, and we had fun sharing our stories over a bottle of wine. It turned out that hearing her stories, and knowing first-hand how it felt, was almost as much of a turn-on as actually doing it, and after she left, I re-enacted her stories in my imagination while having fun with my vibrator.

I hadn’t expected to hear from the firemen again, but a few weeks later, I received a parcel. I’d been out-of-town shooting another wedding, so I arrived home late and found it propped against my front door. It was the size and shape of a record, and when I picked it up and flipped it over, it sagged slightly in my hand. I opened it at my kitchen table and gasped.

It was the next edition of the firemen calendar, with my photograph of Dewey chopping wood on the cover. The sight of his shirtless muscular body transported me back to the day of the shoot, and I felt a quiver of arousal.

I flicked through the pages, astounded at how good the photos looked. Sandwiched between the last two pages, I found a handwritten note on a slip of notepad paper: Call us anytime, with a local phone number.

I turned it over. That was all they’d written, and I wondered whether it was too late to call them now.

The firemen had compensated me well for my time. Very well. I had enough money now that I could have stopped working for two months, but I didn’t want to flake on people who had already booked me and besides, I liked to keep busy. I hadn’t contacted them, or expected to receive anything else from them, figuring that what we’d done was a onetime thing. But it looked like they wanted to do it again… and if I was being honest with myself, so did I.

I picked up my phone, dialed the number, and waited as it rang.
